Curator of Scotland and Venice 2007
Philip Long is Senior Curator at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. Contemporary and modern exhibitions and projects he has curated include Matthew Dalziel and Louise Scullion; Sigmar Polke: Music of Unclear Origin; Howard Hodgkin Large Paintings 1984- 2002, and Francis Bacon: Portraits and Heads.
He has worked in particular on Scottish art and artists (on which he has written extensively). He is involved regularly with other museums and arts organisations in Scotland and internationally, and was previously Chair of the Visual Art Committee of the Scottish Arts Council. In addition to curating Scotland's presentation at the 2007 Venice Biennale, he is currently working on future projects, details of which will be announced shortly.
