22 February 2022 — What if
What if…?/Scotland event series – watch again
This event series was a collaboration between the Scotland + Venice partnership and V&A Dundee and curated in response to the What if..?/Scotland project.
Produced by award winning Edinburgh based architecture and design practice 7N Architects, in partnership with Architecture & Design Scotland, What if…? / Scotland sought to re-engage the civic role of design professionals by asking communities from across Scotland to share their hopes and dreams for the future of the places they call home.
Originally designed to be staged in Venice as part of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, the exhibition responded to the Biennale’s theme How will we live together? As a result of the pandemic, this exhibition was restaged for V&A Dundee allowing the development of a What if…? Dundee programme of engagement.
What if…? / Scotland was at V&A Dundee from 22 May 2021 to 21 November 2021.
What if… / we lived in places of small distances? BSL Interpreted
Can you easily get everything you need within 20 minutes of where you live? The need for redesigning how we live is not new. In the face of the climate crisis, more of us are trying to reduce our impact by living more locally, which in turn is helping communities connect and thrive.
What if…/ we reconsider how we will live together? BSL Interpreted
“How will we live together?” was the question posed by the 17th International Architecture Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia. Drawing on creative minds across the world, responses have been wildly different. The urgency of the question sparked ideas and made connections in unexpected and compelling ways.
What if…/ young people designed our future? BSL Interpreted
We are in a climate emergency; urgent change is vital and possible… Young people today are the generation that will be most affected by climate change. Across the world they are doing extraordinary things to challenge and change the way we live to save their future. Our built environments do not reflect the values – and critically the needs – of future generations. How can we urgently change this? What if young people designed our future? Join us to hear how we can challenge, reconsider and redesign our built environment.
